OMNIVISION, a leading global developer of semiconductor solutions including advanced digital imaging, analog and touch and display technology, today announced at CES 2022 the industry’s first demonstration of a future-oriented 8-megapixel (MP) automotive camera system. Use of the next generation OX08B40 CMOS image sensors, the demo is powered by Xilinx MPSoC and Motovis IP. The live proof-of-concept demonstration highlights the increased range and wider field of view enabled in the higher-resolution 8MP system.

With this announcement, the platform now enables Motovis’ forward-thinking camera systems to take advantage of the higher resolution OMNIVISION OX08B40 8MP imager. the OX08B40 the image sensor has an optical format of 1/2.5 inch, integrates 2.1 μm PureCel®Plus-S pixel technologyoffers 140dB high dynamic range (HDR) and LED flicker mitigation (LFM), and features ASIL-C and cybersecurity functionality, ideal for next-generation automotive applications.

Launched in December 2019, the OX08B40 is built on the next generation of OMNIVISION PureCel®Plus-S Stacked Matrix Technology, enabling high functionality in the smallest possible die size. The sensor uses this proprietary pixel technology to improve image quality by reducing or eliminating fixed pattern noise, as well as providing high full well capacitance and delivering 140dB HDR with LFM, this making it an optimal solution for next-generation automotive applications.
