CORRECTION and REPLACEMENT OMNIVISION Introduces Industry’s First 8-Megapixel LFM Image Sensor System for Automotive Front-View Camera Systems at CES 2022

LAS VEGAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Throughout the release, the name of the partner company should be Motovis (instead of Motovision).

The updated version reads as follows:

the OX08B40 is powered by Xilinx MPSoC and Motovis IP and provides enhanced range and wider field of view to enhance automotive safety in driver assistance systems

OMNIVISION, a leading global developer of semiconductor solutions including advanced digital imaging, analog and touch and display technology, today announced at CES 2022 the industry’s first demonstration of a future-oriented 8-megapixel (MP) automotive camera system. Use of the next generation OX08B40 CMOS image sensors, the demo is powered by Xilinx MPSoC and Motovis IP. The live proof-of-concept demonstration highlights the increased range and wider field of view enabled in the higher-resolution 8MP system.

“We are excited to showcase our latest front camera platform at CES 2022,” said Dr. Zhenghua “Jack” Yu, CEO of Motovis. “Through this collaboration, our customizable deep learning networks have now been adapted to take advantage of OMNIVISION’s ‘state-of-the-art’ imager. This results in higher detection ranges as well as more accurate perception in wider fields of view.

With this announcement, the platform now enables Motovis’ forward-thinking camera systems to take advantage of the higher resolution OMNIVISION OX08B40 8MP imager. the OX08B40 the image sensor has an optical format of 1/2.5 inch, integrates 2.1 μm PureCel®Plus-S pixel technologyoffers 140dB high dynamic range (HDR) and LED flicker mitigation (LFM), and features ASIL-C and cybersecurity functionality, ideal for next-generation automotive applications.

“The OX08B40 8MP image sensor delivers superior image quality up to 4K2K resolution, greatly improving an automotive environment for safety, including lane recognition, vehicle and pedestrian detection , panel recognition and blind spots,” said Andy Hanvey, automotive marketing director. at OMNIVISION. “We are proud of our collaboration with Xilinx and Motovis who have helped to enable this next-generation future-oriented automotive technology.”

“Working closely with OMNIVISION and Motovis, our Xilinx UltraScale+ MPSoC is ideal for advanced, future-facing camera applications, as it combines a feature-rich 64-bit quad-core and dual-core ARM Cortex processing system with programmable logic Xilinx in a single device,” said Willard Tu, Senior Director Automotive, Xilinx. the remarkable flexibility of our Xilinx MPSoC solution.”

Launched in December 2019, the OX08B40 is built on the next generation of OMNIVISION PureCel®Plus-S Stacked Matrix Technology, enabling high functionality in the smallest possible die size. The sensor uses this proprietary pixel technology to improve image quality by reducing or eliminating fixed pattern noise, as well as providing high full well capacitance and delivering 140dB HDR with LFM, this making it an optimal solution for next-generation automotive applications.
