Toshiba Introduces Lens Reduction-Type Linear CCD Image Sensor for A3 Multifunction Printers

TOKYO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation (“Toshiba”) launched “TCD2726DG, a lens reduction type CCD linear image sensor that enables high-speed scanning for A3 multifunction printers. Engineering Sample Shipments[1] start today.

There is a growing demand for A3 multifunction printers with higher scanning speeds. The TCD2726DG meets demand by improving performance with a faster operating clock frequency: 100 MHz data rate (50 MHz x 2 channels), versus 70 MHz data rate (35 MHz x 2 channels ) of Toshiba’s current sensor[2].

To avoid increased electromagnetic interference (EMI), a negative side effect of a faster clock rate, the new sensor incorporates a timing generator circuit and has a lower CCD driver pin count. This reduces EMI adjustment and timing work for customers, as well as the number of peripheral parts, which helps to facilitate system development.

[1] The samples are intended for functional evaluation. Their specifications may differ from those of mass production.
